Stefan French is an Irish composer providing original music for film, television,
and commercial media.

Based in Dublin, his passion lies in getting to the heart of a story, and collaborating with the film making team to support and enhance their vision through music. Whether it be for a feature film, or a 30 second commercial, the conversation always comes back to -

"How would we like the viewer to think, or feel?"

Classically trained from an early age, and branching into music technology shortly after, he is equally at home writing synth based scores as he is conducting an orchestra on a scoring stage. For him, every project presents a unique challenge, and an opportunity to create a distinctive and engaging, emotional voice that helps to immerse the audience within the world of the story. With almost 15 years experience in the film industry, he has developed a keen sense for drama and the narrative arc, and for the specific logistical and technical demands that come with marrying music to picture.

His film credits include Callus (directed by Ciarán Hickey, produced by Bear Print Media / Screen Ireland); Love Of The Irish (Hallmark Channel / Evolve Entertainment); Lies For Rent (Lifetime Movies / Marvista Entertainment); Arden’s Wake (Penrose Studios. Screened at Tribeca, Cannes, and winner of a Golden Lion for Best VR Film at The Venice Film Festival); An Ode to Love (produced by the Oscar nominated, and multi Emmy-winning, Brown Bag Films / RTE. Winner of Best Irish Animation at Foyle Film Festival 2014, nominated for Best Animation at IFTA 2015); I’d Kill For You (directed by Monika Wesley, produced by Los Angeles based Sobini Films); and the political drama The Guarantee (directed by Ian Power, produced by John Kelleher Media / TV3. Nominated at IFTA 2015 for Best Script).

Commercial clients include Intel, Workday, HP, Symantec, ShiSeido, CableLabs, and Britvic / MiWadi, among others.

In late 2023, Stefan composed the score for a stage production of JM Barrie's 'Peter Pan', adapted by BAFTA winning Irish writer Roddy Doyle for The Gate Theatre.

The soundtrack album will be released soon on all major streaming platforms.

Stefan has recorded and conducted his work on a number of the worlds leading scoring stages, including the Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Brothers, and the Newman Scoring Stage at Fox Studios, in Los Angeles. He has worked with the Hollywood Studio Symphony, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, the USC Thornton Symphony Orchestra, the Helix Collective, the Irish Film Orchestra, and the Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra, among others. His scores have been mixed and mastered at Windmill Lane Studios and Screen Scene Post Production in Dublin, and at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.

Stefan is a member the Screen Composers Guild of Ireland, and IMRO. He is currently represented for commercial media in Ireland by Silverstream Music Ltd.
